Aspen/Snowmass, CO (October 24, 2018) — Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a premier destination for art-making and critical dialog in the contemporary art world, announces that Executive Director Nancy Wilhelms officially stepped down on Friday, October 19. Andrea Wallace will be the interim Executive Director until a new Executive Director is named. The search for a new Executive Director is moving forward in a positive direction as the organization continues to engage with potential candidates.
The Ranch Board of Trustees has also elected Sue Hostetler as Chair of the Board of Trustees and welcomes four newly-elected members, effective October 17, 2018. Lucy Wood Baird, Ann Korologos, Gabriela Palmieri and Capera Ryan join the organization’s Board in its efforts to fulfill Anderson Ranch’s mission of enriching lives with art, inspiration and community.
Andrea Wallace is the Director of Programs and the Artistic Director of Photography and New Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, where she has worked for more than a decade. She received her MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before coming to the Ranch, she worked as Assistant Professor at Lake Forest College and Willamette University. In addition, she has taught lens based media at the at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She regularly leads field workshops to Mexico and Europe. Her film, “Rochell and Brian”, a documentary about teenage pregnancy, premiered at the New York International Independent Film Festival. She exhibits nationally and internationally throughout the Americas, Europe, China and the Middle East.
Sue Hostetler is a magazine editor and writer. For the past decade she has been the Editor in Chief of Art Basel Magazine, which covers the venerable annual art fairs in Miami, Switzerland and Hong Kong and the world’s top curators, collectors, galleries and artists that attend. Her annual Women in the Art’s luncheon, honoring the most influential women working in contemporary art, is one of the premiere events during the fair in Miami As the former national arts editor for all Niche Media magazines, Sue produced and wrote profiles about contemporary art, architecture, interior design and personalities for titles Gotham, Aspen Peak, Hamptons, Los Angeles Confidential, Ocean Drive, Capitol File, Michigan Avenue, Vegas and Boston Common. Hostetler has been a consultant to the website art.sy, creating strategic partnerships with private collections, foundations and institutions, as well as producing original content about the contemporary art world. From 2008-2009 Sue was the host of PLUM HOMES WITH SUE HOSTETLER on Plum Television, a network of lifestyle programming in upscale destination communities. The show featured extraordinary real estate all over the country and intimate interviews with the owners, often bold-faced names. An episode about a Miami homeowner won a 2008 Suncoast Emmy Award in Arts/Entertainment on December 6, 2008. Sue is also a regular arts and cultural contributor to Departures Magazine and Aspen Magazine. She sits on the board of several institutions and charitable organizations, including Anderson Ranch Art Center in Aspen, where she is currently Chair of the Board, The Aspen Country Day School, Ballroom Marfa in Marfa, Texas, and is a former trustee of the International Center of Photography in New York City. She is also a member of the Institute of International Education’s New Leaders Group, the UN organization that administers the Fulbright Program, as well as a member of the Aspen Institute’s Society of Fellows.
Lucy Wood Baird is a practicing artist working in photography, sculpture and installation. While maintaining an active studio practice, she has worked in the art word in various capacities, including as a collection researcher and writer at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, as well as running “The Prospective Series”, a small pop up gallery. In 2016 she received her MFA in Photography from MassArt. While there she taught photography, curated various shows of emerging artists and helped found a female artist collective. Since graduating in 2016, Lucy splits her time between her studio and working at Baird & Warner, a family real estate, mortgage and title business. Outside of the studio Lucy volunteers her time with the Harvard Alumni Association and the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago. She lives in Chicago and has a small, but beloved art collection.
Ann McLaughlin Korologos served as Chairman of the RAND Board of Trustees from April 2004-April 2009. RAND is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis. She is Chairman Emeritus of The Aspen Institute. Mrs. Korologos was U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1987-1989 under President Ronald Reagan. She also served as Under Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Assistant Secretary of the Department of the Treasury. In 1989, after leaving government, she served as Chairman of the President’s Commission on Aviation Secretary and Terrorism with particular reference to the destruction of Pan American Airways Flight 103. Mrs. Korologos currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and Michael Kors, Ltd. Additionally, Mrs. Korologos is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII). She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The Dana Foundation and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. Mrs. Korologos has been awarded honorary degrees from Marymount College (Tarrytown, New York), University of Rhode Island, New England School of Law and the College of St. Elizabeth, Tri-State University and Pardee RAND Graduate School. She is a native of Chatham, New Jersey, earned a B.A. degree from Marymount College and studied at the University of London and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. She is married to Tom Korologos and lives in Basalt, Colorado and Washington, D.C. She has owned the Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt, Colorado for 11 years specializing in contemporary Western Art.
Gabriela Palmieri is the founder and principal of Palmieri Fine Art, Inc., a bespoke full-service Art firm based in New York City. Prior to establishing PFA, Inc., Ms. Palmieri led a distinguished 17-year career at Sotheby’s, where she rose to Chairman of Contemporary Art, Americas, and was recognized as one of the most respected in the auction industry as a leading specialist in Post-War Art. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Ms. Palmieri received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History cum laude at Boston College in 1997, and she achieved her Master of Arts and advanced to PhD standing at the University of Chicago. She presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Fairholme Unlimited, a nonprofit Art Foundation based in Miami. Ms. Palmieri is certified in Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and has been a frequent lecturer on the art market, planning for art collections and on appraisals. She is also a sought-after charity auctioneer.
Capera Ryan was appointed Deputy Chairman of Christie’s Americas, effective, January 2016. In this role, she focuses on client engagement and strategic development opportunities by bringing together key art-world influences from private, trade and institutional circles. She is known within the collecting community for her ability to take art enthusiasts behind the scenes of the auction world and major global art world events, such as the Venice Biennale. Ms. Ryan was most recently Senior Vice President, Managing Director for the Southwest Region. She joined Christie’s in 2002 as the Head of the Texas office. Prior to joining Christie’s, Ms. Ryan worked as a Specialist in the Jewelry Department of Sotheby’s, New York. With Family ties to both Dallas and Fort Worth, Capera is an active member of the community and the liaison between local clients and Christie’s worldwide. She is on the Board of the American Federation of the Arts in New York, the American Friends of the Musee d’Orsay (New York), the French Heritage Society and the Van Zandt Cottage Friends in Fort Worth. She is an active member and leader at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Friends of Human Nutrition, the Advisory Board for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, the Dallas Performing Arts President’s Advisory Council, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Founder’s Garden Club of America, and the Dallas Assembly. Capera is a Founding member of the Director’s Circle at Crow Collection of Asian Art and a member of the Advisory Council at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. She has participated as a past board member of the Dallas Historical Society and Dallas Contemporary. Ms. Ryan attended the Hotchkiss School and earned her bachelor’s degree at Vanderbilt University, where she spent three years as the Head of the Vanderbilt Sarratt Art Gallery. She graduated with degrees in Art History and Organizational Development. She completed courses in diamonds and colored stones at the Gemological Institute of America.
