Students who sign up for both of Teresa’s workshops will receive 20% off their second class tuition.
DATES: August 10 – 14, 2015
SKILL LEVEL: Open to all
CONCEPT: Sharpen your drawing skills or learn them for the first time. This workshop is an intensive investigation into traditional drawing techniques. We begin by studying the human form by working with a live nude model to study contour, proportion, volume and gesture. We move on to study concepts of space through perspective drawing, still life, and landscape. Discussion and observation of representation vs. abstraction are woven throughout the class. Quick studies as well as longer drawings are explored through working both inside and outside of the studio with a variety of media and subjects.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Student use charcoal, pencil, conté crayon, litho crayon, graphite and ink drawing techniques.
ACTIVITIES: We learn through technical demonstrations, drawing exercises, slide lectures and group and individual discussion.
FACULTY: Teresa Booth Brown studied classical drawing techniques at the Museum Art School and Reed College both in Portland, OR as well as at Bennington College in Vermont. Her extensive studio practice focuses on abstract painting, collage, drawing and installation but embraces traditional drawing techniques as an important foundation. www.teresaboothbrown.com
