Emilio Perez
DATES: July 27 – 31, 2015
SKILL LEVEL: II – III
CONCEPT: This workshop focuses on the exploration and development of the artist’s own personal style and approach to making art. Understanding what defines an artist’s practice and how it is a direct extension of the artist’s personality and experiences is a key component in defining one’s personal style and vision. This workshop focuses on the language that each artist uses to create work in order to better understand his or her own visual vocabulary. In addition, this course encourages experimentation, spontaneity and the intuitive process in order to create a dialogue between the artist and their creations.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students create works of art using mixed media, drawing and painting.
ACTIVITIES: We work on self-defined projects with a focus on studio time. There will be daily personal and group discussions and critiques.
FACULTY: Emilio Perez’s works can be found in the permanent collections of the Miami Art Museum, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Arkansas Art Center and in corporate collections. He has had solo exhibitions with Galerie Lelong in both New York and Paris, Pace Prints, and his work has been featured in group exhibitions internationally. www.emilioperezart.com
