LOCALS’ PHOTOGRAPHY SALON
September 13, 2019
Posted In: Events, Locals' Clubs
FREE and open to the public
The first meeting will meet on Wednesday of this month but for the rest of Fall and Winter, it will be the first Tuesday of each month.
The Photography Salon welcomes all who have an interest in photography and lens-based media regardless of their level of expertise. We further our understanding of photography as a visual language and art form through photographic presentations, discussions and portfolio reviews. We invite you to join us! This month we welcome Esther Macy Nooner and Mackey Howe.
Esther Macy Nooner is an artist whose work explores the boundaries of the traditional photographic frame as well as questioning the historical ideologies of the landscape. Nooner received her B.F.A in Photography from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI, her M.F.A. in Photography from the University of Arkansas, School of Art and has participated in Artist in Residencies in the National Park System. She is currently the Studio Coordinator for Photography and New Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
Mackey Howe is a contemporary artist who works primarily with photography and printmaking techniques. He graduated with honors from Skidmore College in 2018 where he studied studio art. Since graduating, Mackey has worked at The Griffin Museum of Photography, as a photography teaching assistant at The Fessenden School, and as an intern for the Photography and New Media Studio at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. His work focuses primarily on psychological themes and the confrontation of mental suffering. Mackey uses layering and mixed media to achieve a greater depth in his images.
