Douglas Beasley & Andrea Wallace
DATES: August 24 – 28, 2015
SKILL LEVEL: II – III
CONCEPT: Revitalize your vision while exploring your relationship to subject, camera and self. Learn to deepen your visual awareness and clarify your approach, making for images that are more personal and meaningful. We focus on how photography becomes more powerful by cultivating simplicity and developing the power of intuition. We develop visual strength by getting in touch with our inner selves, and by deepening the connection with our chosen subject. We consider lighting, composition and exposure issues with a constant focus on integrating practical advice into personal practice.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Student inspiration is sparked by a balance of conversation, meditation, sharing photos, reviews of past work, writing exercises, readings, poetry, photographic exercises and assignments.
ACTIVITIES: We learn through site-specific photographic exercises and assignments. Mornings are spent in class and on photographic exercises with field trips in the afternoons. We discuss work in progress.
FACULTY: Douglas Beasley has a B.F.A. from the University of Michigan. Douglas’s personal vision explores the spiritual aspects of people and place. He has exhibited and published internationally, and grants and commissions fund much of his work. His extensive teaching experience includes numerous workshops worldwide that emphasize vision over the mechanics of camera use. www.douglasbeasley.com
