Brenda Mallory
Brenda Mallory received her B.F.A. from Pacific Northwest College of Art. She has received grants from the Oregon Arts Commission, Regional Arts & Culture Council, and the Foundation for Contemporary Art in New York. She is an M.F.A. Mentor in the Applied Craft and Design Program at Pacific Northwest College of Art and Oregon College of Art and Craft. Brenda lives and works in Portland, Ore.

Lorna Meaden
Lorna Meaden teaches at Fort Lewis College. A featured demonstrator and lecturer at the National Council of Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and the Utilitarian Clay V: Celebrate the Object conference, she is currently a studio potter in Durango, Colo.

Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb
Magnum photographer, Alex Webb, has published nine books, including most recently, The Suffering of Light: Thirty Years of Photographs (Aperture Books, 2011). His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and has appeared in The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic.

His wife and creative partner, photographer Rebecca Norris Webb, has published three books that deal with complicated relationships between people and the natural world, including her new book, My Dakota, which is about the West and its weathers and an elegy for a lost brother (Radius Books, 2012). Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the George Eastman House Museum and has appeared on Time Lightbox and TimeMachine.

How to Hatch a Design Egg

Learn how Design Egg founders Jess Mott Wickstrom and Andy Wickstrom, who work on the road doing creative work out of a Scamp trailer, combine an itch for adventure and an artistic practice into a sustainable career. Part travelogue and part inspirational story, planning, crowd-funding, logistics and partnerships will be discussed. Lecture, with Q&A’s and Scamp trailer tours to follow.

Formerly based in Chicago, Jess and Andy Wickstrom are currently traveling the nation with their non-profit project, DesignEgg. Initially funded with Kickstarter, DesignEgg grants Creative Service Awards to artists, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations working across the country. Over the past year, the Wickstroms have traveled over 17,000 miles—living and working out of a 16-foot RV—and delivered more than $25,000 in design and photography services to 18 successful applicants.
