Visiting Artists: Fumiko Nagai and Takashi Nakazato

Fumiko Nagai and Takashi Nakazato make functional wares and dishes for food and tea ceremony. Fumiko trained as an apprentice with Takashi and then served as his assistant for several years. Takashi comes from a long line of potters dating back to the 1370s. Takashi apprenticed with his father who was designated as a National Living Treasure. Fumiko and Takashi travel worldwide to lecture, demonstrate and exhibit their pottery. Fumiko graduated from the International Christian University of Tokyo with a degree in liberal arts.
