WINTERSCULPT 2019
December 21, 2018
Posted In: Events, Special Event
Description:
Anderson Ranch Arts Center invites community members to gather a team and participate in this fun and lively 48-hour snow sculpture competition as part of Aspen’s annual Wintersköl™ festivities. Teams work around the clock to transform 8’ square foot snow cubes into freestanding creations that best represent the annual Wintersköl theme. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place sculptures. Judging will be based on overall creativity, design concept, and technical execution.
The theme for Wintersculpt 2019 coincides with this year’s Wintersköl slogan “Aspen, Original by Design.” This year the world and the Roaring Fork Valley commemorate the centennial of the Bauhaus, a modernist design school originated in Germany with unique ties to the city of Aspen through the legacy of artist Herbert Bayer. Sculptures must be inspired by Bauhaus design principles and highlight the lasting influence Bauhaus has on contemporary art, architecture, and graphic design. Be inspired by Bauhaus!
