Visiting Artist: Camilla Webster
May 15 - May 21, 2023
Camilla Webster is recognized as one of South Florida’s leading living artists and designers. The museum-collected painter creates abstract paintings and art experiences capturing idyllic moments in time. She threads both her past as an international journalist and best-selling author with a sense of story in each work for the viewer to interpret. Webster’s work focuses on the essence of the human spirit, radical beauty, idyllic memory, and healing through abstracted landscapes and seascapes
In recent years, her paintings have been selected for exhibits and collections at Hudson Yards, NYC by Norges, The Coral Springs Museum of Art – FL, The Southampton Arts Center – NY, The Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum – FL, The Sagamore Hotel, South Beach Miami – FL, The Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach – FL.
At The Ritz Carlton South Beach during Art Basel Miami, 2022, Webster was recognized by the Mayor of Miami and the Miami Art Commission for her series Earth, Water and Sky capturing the wildlife of the everglades around Miami under the moonlight. Webster has exhibited at Art Basel Miami annually and multiple art fairs since her arrival in Florida in 2017; in addition to Scope, The Edition Hotel, The Sagamore Hotel, Mercedes Benz, and was also a speaker and exhibitor at Art Palm Beach’s Power Talks sessions.
Art experiences are a passion. Webster collaborated with Opus One for an exhibit and tasting at The Brazilian Court in the fall of 2022, inspired by the release of 2019 Opus One vintage after visiting the legendary vineyard during harvest to capture the vision of Baron de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi on canvas.
In the spring of 2023, Webster created the art bells experience at The Norton Museum of Art for The Salvation Army gala to support their youth arts education program. She invited forty local and internationally recognized artists to participate with her in creating art on the bells including Harry Benson, Hunt Slonem and Romero Britto. Along with her own bell sculpture, the art bells were sold at the event to support the initiative. She has raised over $50,000 for charities using her art to make social impact in the last three years.
In May, Camilla launched a social media collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker & Thomas Ashbourne crafted spirits for The Perfect Cosmo by SJP, creating art and experiences highlighting the new cocktail. She was chosen for The Palm Beach Power List by Dan’s Papers. The publication is giving her a summer cover in the Hamptons this upcoming season.
Webster has her master’s degree in History of Art and Modern History from the University of St Andrew’s in Scotland. She has also studied at The Slade School of Fine Art in London and The Art Students League in New York. Like artist Helen Frankenthaler, Webster attended The Brearley School, NYC.
