Visiting Artist: Harry Teague
Feb 5 - Feb 9, 2024
Visiting Artist Harry Teague will be at Anderson Ranch from February 5th – 9th, 2024.
Harry Teague, 79, is originally from the East Coast where he grew up in a family of well-known designers and artists. He has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1972 where he raised four children and has practiced architecture for more than fifty years. While he has designed many celebrated residences, familiar public buildings, and campuses including Anderson Ranch, he has also produced paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photographs that have been exhibited and sold locally. Harry currently lives in Old Town Basalt with photographer and writer, Dede Reed.
Encouraged by his background in the arts, Harry’s relationship with the Ranch began in the mid- seventies with his friendship with then Director Caleb Bach, and printer Jeffry Moore. At that time the print shop in the base of the Dows Barn was the only “winterized” space on campus. Harry’s two-person hand’s-on construction company, S.L.O.W. Construction, transformed the primitive rustic barn into some administrative offices, the Gallery, and a studio loft that opened in 1980. Now, many years and many projects later their relationship continues appropriately in the printshop of the Ranch.
