Everyone has a story to tell. This workshop helps students bring their stories to life. Over the course of the week, students explore the essentials of short documentary filmmaking—from shaping a concept to crafting the final edit. Guided by an acclaimed filmmaker, students gain hands-on experience in filming, interviewing, scripting, and editing as they create a short profile of a local personality or visiting artist at the Ranch. Students learn techniques for framing and composition, working with natural light, and sequencing shots to build a compelling narrative. Whether using a professional camera, a DSLR, or even a phone, this workshop is designed to help students develop the skills and confidence to tell authentic, real-life stories. It immerses students in the power of visual storytelling within a supportive and inspiring creative environment. Who Is It For? This workshop is for anyone with a passion for storytelling. Professionals and hobbyists are welcome. The class adapts to all skill levels and includes extensive one-on-one guidance. Whether students are exploring video as a creative outlet or looking to tell meaningful, real-life stories in their personal or professional lives, this course supports them. No prior filmmaking experience is required—just curiosity and a desire to share authentic narratives.
