Marlena Sloss

Marlena Sloss is an independent documentary photographer and storyteller based in Oakland, California and Juneau, Alaska. Her work focuses on human connection to nature, spirituality and meaning.
Previously, Marlena was a staff photographer at The Herald in Jasper, Indiana. She has interned at The Washington Post, The Herald, The Evansville Courier and Press, and The Post and Courier. She holds an M.A. in Visual Communication – Photojournalism from Ohio University and a B.A. in Psychology. Marlena was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, where she developed a deep connection to the earth. She is a dual citizen of Australia and the United States.
Clients include The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and The Guardian, among others.
