Pat Kim

Pat Kim Studied Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute, with a short stint at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He lives and works in the Redhook neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Hands-on and self-sufficient, Pat creates works that build on self-taught techniques and those gleaned from traditional craft. His works span the gamut between art to the functional, in three and two dimensions.

Pat's Upcoming Workshops

    Level III

    Students have some formal training in 3­-D design, experience with a variety of materials and fabrication processes, and know how to use machine and hand tools competently and safely. Students have a portfolio of their artwork.

    Level IV

    Students have advanced skill and knowledge of furniture design. Students are highly motivated and have multiple portfolios of their artwork.

Artists are trampling the line between contemporary furniture, craft, and sculpture more frequently and fearlessly than ever. In this intermediate workshop, students expand their woodworking and handcraft skills to create unique sculptural works in wood. Focusing on hardwood construction, surface treatment, and finishing techniques, the course explores form, process, and sculptural solutions to create a unique piece of functional art. Students must have basic knowledge of woodworking and woodworking tools to take this workshop.
