Investigate the current trends of print media in contemporary culture and get the tools to make a personal artistic statement using screen printing. This workshop focuses on water-based photo screen printing techniques as well as low-tech stencil printing methods. Technical demonstrations cover beginning photo screen printing processes, one- and two-color registration, a combination of hand dyeing, draw back into, manipulation of the surface, water-soluble markers, and hand-cut and photo stencil methods. Experimental Screen Printing
J. Leigh Garcia
Tuition $1,345
Code R0101-25
In this 5-day exploratory workshop, we start from the basics of water-based screen printing, then work our way up to more advanced and increasingly experimental techniques. Exciting methods—such as analog processes including reduction with screen filler, and digital processes using photo emulsion—are introduced and demonstrated with plenty of studio time to print. Students also experiment with watercolor monoprinting and even graphite prints. Throughout the week, we discuss tips and techniques that students can use to keep printing at home with minimal setup and equipment.

Shaped Plate Intaglio
Camilla Taylor
Tuition $1,345
Code R0202-25
Moving beyond the constraints of the rectangle, shaped plate intaglio has endless possibilities and potential applications that can push printmakers into new directions. In this workshop, students learn to make and utilize the basic studio equipment for shaped plate intaglio: a v-slot, and then etch, cut, and print their own shaped copper plate. The workshop culminates with multiple, finished, original prints and the potential to attach a mounting to the shaped copper plate for display. Additionally, shaped plate drypoint with plastic sheeting, papier colle, and spray paint aquatint are explored.
